Basics Eats | Plantain 4 Ways: Delicious & Healthy Recipes You Need to Try

Plantains are a Nigerian favorite, but there’s more to them than just frying! Whether you like them crispy, caramelized, or soft, here are four ways to enjoy plantains:

1. Boiled Plantain

Peel and cut plantains into chunks.

Boil in salted water for 10-12 minutes until tender.

Serve with beans or vegetable sauce.

 

2. Fried Plantain (Dodo)

Slice ripe plantains diagonally.

Heat oil and fry until golden brown (3-4 minutes per side).

Drain on paper towels and enjoy!

 

3. Oven-Baked Plantain

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Slice plantains, lightly coat with oil, and place on a baking sheet.

Bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.


4. Air-Fried Plantain

Toss sliced plantains with a little oil.

Air-fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, shaking halfway through.
